The Flag of Learning and Liberty was developed in the public interest by the National School Public Relations Association in cooperation with the Southland Corporation. Its central focus is a stylized flame with red, blue and gold elements representing learning, liberty and the foundations of education: high expectations, effective teaching, responsiblities families and involved communities.

The top red stripe stands for our strong democratic way of life; the white background area of the flag stands for the dreams of a nation of free people; the bottom blue stripe stands for excellence in education and the opportunities education brings; the top left red flame stands for caring, involved, active communities in a democracy; the bottom left blue flame stands for excellence in teaching; the bottom right red flame stands for the importance of responsible families in a democracy; the top right blue flame stands for expecting the best from students; the top two gold flames stand for learning and liberty.

NSPRA members are education leaders: community/public relations specialists, superintendents, principals, classroom teachers, college professors and students.

GSPRA is a state chapter of the National School Public Relations Association.
